The Problem
Developing summer reading activities that offer meaningful engagement for a wide variety of ages and fosters creativity and problem solving.
How Blu Track solved the problem
Amy from Blu Track helped plan a program that would engage a variety of ages. Amy created a planning sheet that she shared with me that detailed the plan for the program including materials needed and questions to ask before/ during the program. Amy did a great job of communicating with me throughout the planning process and during the program!
Solution
Amy led an engaging program. First, Amy read Little Blue Truck And Racer Red, then she explained the different track challenges, and demonstrated how to build and play with the tracks! Afterwards, families got to use Legos, and recyclable materials to design a track. Then, the families got to race the cars! She also brought some books about cars for the families to look at.
Results
The program was a great success! It engaged both young and older children! Children came up with creative ways to design the track. For example, one child put boxes at the end of a ramp to make the car land in the box. Children used problem solving skills to figure out how to make their car go up ramps or around curves. Children enjoyed having a variety of track challenges!
