Here’s How to Get Racing!

December 18, 2025

👋Hello and welcome to the world of open-ended Blu Track toy race track play.

If you are brand new to Blu Track or looking for some hints on how to keep the fun rolling, here we go!

Keep in mind that physics, gravity and imagination lead the way with designing races using the flexible track. There is no one right way to play yet some key concepts do help.

🌀 Starting the track races: find a safe space to play and decide how high you want the race to start, keep in mind kids’ height and reach.

🌀 Secure the track start for the hanger pad:

    • Suction cup: for smooth surfaces such as windows, some counter tops and tables
    • Place the hanger pad between or under books or boxes
    • Place the middle of the track over a chair, ottoman, or table for 2 different races
    • Use a strap or cord going through the hanger pad to tie around a tree or post

🌀 Unroll the track and let it go down to the play surface.

🌀Attach the anchor bar to the track just past where the track touches the surface.

🌀Secure the anchor bar with painters tape, books, a can of veggies, etc. so the track stays in place and in line. This helps the cars keep their speed and stay on the track.

🌀Pick the race starting spot and place all four wheels of the car in one lane, release gently .

*If the car or toy is a bit bigger than one lane, place it in the center of the track and let it go down by itself

🏆Quick wins:

🥇Straight race: how fast are the cars or toys?

🥈Box bumps or jumps: pick a spot to place the Blu Track box flat underneath the track

    • Does the car go over a bump or does it jump?
    • What happens when the box is moved?
    • Turn the box so it makes a little higher bump or jump. What happens?
    • Can you turn the box again and see the cars do something else during the race?
    • How slowly can a car go over a bump or jump?

🥉Take the end of the track and curve it  toward the start (like a U turn). Think it will work?

🏅Pick up the track and make a loop near the anchor bar. Did the car make it through the loop?

Here are some outdoor play ideas:
🧽 Clean up and storage: take track down. Starting at the end, roll the track with the rails facing in, placing the coil in the box. Store flat. If a suction cup was used, place it and the anchor bar back in the box for easier finding for the next Blu Track races. Pick up toy cars and other toys.

You are out of the starting gate!
